Addiction Medicine - Physician, Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse

The LCADA Way is expanding!  We are currently recruiting for a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to work in our Addiction Medicine Clinic in Lorain County.  Join our team of dedicated professionals providing Leadership, Compassion, Awareness, Dedication & Advocacy to the communities we serve.


The Physician / Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness in the delivery of Primary Care and Addiction medicine. Provides leadership to medical department staff, serves as a member of Clinical team as directed by COO, and participates in performance improvement initiatives of the organization to ensure quality and continuity of appropriate services and the medical needs of our clients are represented in the plans and projects of the organization.

Essential Functions:

All under the direction and supervision of licensed physician:

  • Assist with Suboxone Program Administration, including, but not limited to: Ensures Medically Assisted Treatment Program (MAT) component of agency is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding the medical treatment of narcotic addiction; Ensures evidence of current physiologic dependence on a narcotic, length of narcotic addiction and exceptions to admission criteria are documented in client’s clinical record before client receives initial dose of opioid agonist; Ensures a medical history and physical examination are done before client receives initial dose of opioid agonist; Ensures appropriate laboratory studies have been performed and reviewed. Signing or counter-signing all medical orders as required by federal, state, or local laws and regulations; Reviewing and counter-signing treatment plans of opioid agonist clients at least every ninety (90) days; Makes final decision for acceptance to opioid agonist treatment services; Ensures all medical/somatic services are appropriately performed by opioid agonist program.
  • Assists with coordination of the Ambulatory Detox Program Administration
  • Provides acute care to LCADA clients and ensures coordination with other community healthcare organizations and providers in continuation of needed medical services, including histories and physicals, prescribing medications appropriate to client and program, and appropriate follow up for clients in rehabilitation programs, narcan program, and ambulatory detox program.
  • Participates in development, implementation and delivery of in-service trainings designed to upgrade staff’s knowledge regarding health concerns and new technology in health care and substance treatment.

General Requirements: Comprehensive knowledge of alcohol and drug abuse, knowledgeable with regard to substance abuse treatment, recovery. Must possess skills in cultural competency.

Educational Requirements:  Medical Degree, Physician Assistant Degree, Nurse Practitioner Graduate Degree or equivalent required.

Certification Requirements:  MD, DO, PA, APRN or equivalent license required.  Licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio or State Nursing Board of Ohio required, Board Certified preferred. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration/Certification required. Suboxone Certification required.

Amount of Travel: Minimal, mostly confined to local travel.

Hours: Part-time, 16-24 hours per week.

Salary Range: Salary commensurate with licensure and experience.
